Meet Deanna Knight: Embracing Motherhood as a Mom of Three
We’re so grateful to be a small part of such a special season in Deanna’s life as she prepares to welcome her third baby. As she gets ready to grow her family, she shares a heartfelt look at motherhood, preparing her two boys to become big brothers, and embracing the beautiful chaos that comes with a growing family.
What has this pregnancy felt like for you, knowing you’re preparing to welcome your third baby?
Honestly, it’s felt so surreal. I feel like this pregnancy has gone by so fast, and knowing this is our third baby makes everything feel a little more real. I’m definitely soaking in the little moments more because I know how quickly the newborn stage goes.
With two little ones already at home, how has your perspective on motherhood changed from your first pregnancy to now?
I think I’m just so much more relaxed about everything. With my first, I worried about doing everything perfectly and felt like I needed to have everything figured out. Now I know that motherhood is really just taking it day by day, trusting myself, and enjoying my babies instead of stressing over every little thing.
What has this season of preparing for your new baby looked like for your family, and how are you getting your older children ready to welcome their new sibling?
We’ve just been talking about the baby a lot and letting the boys be involved in the little things. They help with getting things ready and we talk about how the baby is going to be part of our everyday life. I really want them to feel excited and included instead of feeling like the baby is taking their place.
Looking back at your journey as a mom, what is one thing you wish you could tell the mom you were during your first pregnancy?
I would tell her to stop worrying so much about doing everything perfectly. You really do figure it out as you go. I wish I could’ve just slowed down and enjoyed it more instead of constantly wondering if I was doing everything right.
“I’m honestly just so excited to see our family grow. I can’t wait to see the boys become big brothers and to see their relationship with the baby. I feel like adding another baby is going to make our house even more chaotic, but in the best possible way.”
